The Flower Dome.

I bought a Groupon for a visit to the Flower Dome and the Cloud Forest for S$29. This S$29 includes a boat ride along the Singapore River to the Marina Bay Sands.

Tourists to Singapore should check out Groupon Singapore or similar sites for deals like this.

Jo and I went to the Cloud Forest (pretty awesome, in my opinion) 3 months ago (our schedules were crazy) and it was quite pretty in there. But we didn’t have enough time (plus, it was too crowded) to go to the Flower Dome, so we left it until this month.

We were greeted at the door by information panels. I expected to see real flowers (arranged tastefully) at the entrance so these panels were a small letdown.

The Flower Dome was quite small, and it is populated by plants from the temperate regions.

These plants are divided into their various continents.

A plant called Bushfires that is fire-resistant. Fine hairs line the surface of this plant. HAHA. Australians, I love your sense of humour.

Since we are still in Christmas, the plants were decorated in a rather Christmas-y manner.

If we didn’t visit during Christmas, I am not sure what I would expect to see. The Dome is really quite small. But pretty.

Would I do a return trip? Not for S$12. (S$12 is the price paid by residents in Singapore. Foreigners pay S$28 for a ticket to both the Cloud Forest and the Flower Dome.)

But if you have a Saturday to spare, why not?

For more information (and discounts), please visit the website. There is a 10% discount for tickets bought online, so if you were going to buy tickets anyway, you might want to buy the tickets online. The queues can be quite long at times. This discount will run until 9 January 2013.

Happy New Year, everybody!
